Your First Visit
Your first visit to Clifton Dental Care in Cincinnati will begin with a member of our dental team taking some X-ray images of your mouth. This lets us to inspect the structure of your jaw, the position of all your teeth - even ones that haven't erupted - and see if you have any malformed roots or tooth decay. In short, we can see what we need to do to help you reach the best dental health possible.
During your initial visit, one of our dentists will review of your medical history forms that you fill out prior to your appointment. On your medical history forms, be sure to provide complete, up-to-date information on your health. Let us know if you have been hospitalized recently, had surgery or if you have recently been ill. At Clifton Dental Care, we believe that your dental health and your overall health are linked, so informing us about any medications you're taking, health issues and information for your primary care physician will help us create the safest, most effective treatment for you.
We encourage regular checkups for individuals age four and up. Regular checkups are important to:
- Check for problems that you might not see or feel
- Find early signs of decay
- Treat oral health problems early, while they are still manageable
During your routine exam, your dentist will provide a thorough teeth cleaning, polishing, and a complete oral exam. During the oral exam, your dentist will check the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks and tongue. Your dentist will also check your existing fillings and restorations in case the constant pressure from chewing, grinding or clenching has caused any wear.
Regular checkup appointments typically last around 45 minutes. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and we ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately.
